Timely

A SMART goal has a set and strict timeline. This would include when the goal should be met and at what time/increments it will be measured.

Measurable

Your goal needs to be easily quantifiable. You need to be able to track your progress.

Specific

Your goal should be clear and concise; easily understood.

Relevant

The goal should be meaningful for all those involved. Does it have a purpose? Is it part of a short-term or long-term plan?

Attainable

The goal needs to be attainable and realistic. It is good to shoot for the starts but make sure there are clear attainable steps to get there.

Making Smart Goals

Use the SMART mnemonic acronym to ensure you build strong goals.
